Repair Manual 2hp Johnson Seahorse
Aug 10, 2010 This is the Johnson i got from a junk pile and resurrected.
So, I managed to get a pair of these a few weeks back, both appear to had been military issue?? Was not aware the military would of used these, however they have US Govt decals ect. Or perhaps someone put them on there to feel 'special' I do not know. What I am facing, is a lack of valuable information on these. I have managed to find a few places to get parts and such, nothing major though. But, have not found the resources or manuals on tear down and such. Hp Hstnn-105c Win7 Drivers more. So I will follow with a few general questions I probably could of found within the forum, however it is snowing and my kids are itching for me to go outside.
(please note: I have owned many ATV's, Snowmobiles, Dirt bikes, cars, but never a boat nor boat motor, now we bought a house on a lake, its my sudden passion to get these things geing before spring, so my kids and family can enjoy the lake.) How to determine the exact model and year? Where and which serial numbers will I need, and where to find them? I need to know, is this a 2 or 4 stroke engine? If 2 stroke I assume 50:1? Or 32:1 ratio yes? Where might I find a reliable service manual for these?
I have no worries about tearing it down, but would prefer an 'Idiot' manual prior, so I do not ruin either. My wife said, why not get a new one? I drive a '66 Chevy, not a '08, 1st car was '68 Mustang, not a '94, my Quad is an '88, my wife's '08, I wouldn't trade it for an '09 flat out. I would much rather prefer something that is made in the USA when we took great pride in the products made here. You cannot beat a classic.

Re: Johnson Seahorse 2.5hp DEP 606370 MoD HD 25 DEP 623335 MoD HD 25 Needs a touch of TLC, but i've got nothing but time until the lake thaws. Also, the 2nd pic, where the prime linkage goes into, leaks.
I assume this is part of the carb, it is leaking around the center and left side rods. If not I have another I hope to replace it with, provided I can get the necessary gaskets. I tried to get it running, but it only sputters a bit then stalls out. Though if the carb is leaking, then the fuel flow is not proper or adequate to run anyway, so I will replace that with my extra and hope I can rebuild the leaking one for the 2nd motor. Hope this helps ^^. Re: Johnson Seahorse 2.5hp Been exciting last few months, furnace broke, 2 washers, dryer, and our van.
Needless to say, tomorrow I redeck the pontoon, and finish painting the rowboat for the kids. I changed out carbs on my lil Johnson. Put in fresh gas ect, checked for leaks and all the good stuff, and she did not fire. Little smoke but would not fire. So of course I checked for spark, one plug has plenty of spark, but second plug no visible spark.
So of course I did what you never want to haha, i held onto the second plug wire while my daughter pulled her over. Just a little tickle, not enough voltage for a hot spark =/ Now, I got a touch of info from some people local here. And suggestion is, the plug wire is grounding out. Hopefully I can pull the flywheel tomorrow, no idea yet what to expect I have no manual, but hoping its just simply pull if off and put it back on same way when i'm finished haha On another note, the carb I took off, float was bad, and where it leaked, it was the primer, so I assume if you 'over prime' it will of course possibly leak since your putting too much fuel into it, so nothing serious I persume. The cylinders and pistons that I could see from where the carb removes, looked awesome. Very little visible wear, no gouges, nothing, they looked as though they had been recently replaced.
